Why this blog?

In Scripture, James writes, “But someone may well say, ‘You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works'” (NASV). I often meet people who say that they’re Christians or that they believe in God, but whose pursuits, preoccupations and pleasures send a different message. Sometimes I ask them, “How would I know that you are a Christian if you hadn’t told me?”

That seems to be what James is asking. It’s also a fair question for those of us who follow Jesus and claim a personal relationship with him. That relationship, if real, should be evident to those around us by our way of living, not because there is a fish symbol on the back of the car or a cross hanging around the neck.

There are a lot of blogs and websites that give good information for Christians, advice and news on current trends. (Sadly, it’s not hard to also find sites with bad advice and information). So there’s no need for another site that merely dispenses information or opinion.

In this blog I will try to provide a perspective that you might not find elsewhere. I aim to provoke your thinking and challenge Christians to make their faith work in practical ways, especially in building bridges to others, instead of being passive consumers of religious information. Be challenged to grab your piece of the action and become a part of the greatest upset in history!
